Submit your application

Before applying for a Rent Choice rental subsidy, please ensure you have read and understood the Rent Choice FAQs for Key Workers and checked your eligibility for the scheme.

  • All household members on the application must be residing in Australia at the time of the application.
  • Only one subsidy can be applied per household.
  • Applicants must be entering into a new lease, extending a lease agreement or have a minimum 6-month lease term remaining on an existing lease to access subsidy payments.
  • The Lease must be issued by a Licensed Real Estate Agent or registered participating NRAS Community Housing Provider, not a private landlord
  • The main applicant must be named as a tenant on the lease agreement. All other household members in the application must be either tenants, or approved occupants on the Lease Agreement for the property (this includes all children).
  • For applicants in an NRAS property, the NRAS incentive must expire no later than 8 weeks after the voucher issue date

Important tips before lodging your application

  • Once your application is started, it cannot be saved and resumed later.
  • Ensure you have all the required documentation for each household member ready for upload, and that copies of all documents are in colour, clear and legible.  
  • Ensure that the email address you provide for us to contact you on is entered correctly, and one that you monitor frequently.
  • Ensure you have completed and signed the Rent Choice Statutory Declaration with a witness, and that this document is ready to be uploaded.

Invalid applications

Applications will be invalid if:

  • the documentation provided is incomplete
  • the documentation provided is false or contains misleading information
  • forms or supporting documents are not legible.

If your application is invalid, you will be contacted and when appropriate, provided with details of what is required. You will have 2 business days to respond before your application is declined.

Issue of Rent Choice vouchers is subject to the availability of funds.
