This week Hon Kate Worden, Minister for Territory Families and Urban Housing launched the Northern Territory Community Housing Growth Strategy 2022-32. Developed by the NT Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities, in consultation with the sector, the strategy provides direction and drives growth of the sector for the next 10 years and aims to improve socio-economic outcomes for Territorians including tenants and the community.

Our CEO Karen Walsh as the representative for Community Housing Industry Association NT, attended the launch with sector and Government representatives and delivered a speech along with Leeanne Caton, Chair of Aboriginal Housing NT and Peter McMillan, CEO NT Shelter congratulating the Minister and the Department on this achievement.

" Congratulations on your vision for reimagining a new future, a future that aims for a better housing system to benefit Territorians in need of safe, secure, appropriate and affordable housing - and for many, we know this future will be life changing, and for many this will be life saving. This is truly a milestone occasion for the NT and for the community housing sector and I'm sure will be a game changer. Importantly, it demonstrates that Government has confidence in our sector to deliver and that we have the expertise, the capability and the potential to do even more."
