We provide quality, affordable, safe and secure homes
Many of our tenants are ‘born and bred’ Territorians, who have experienced housing stress within the private rental market, despite working in jobs that are vital to the Territory’s economy. Our tenants are everyday people; mums, dads, tradies, nurses, teachers and shop assistants – all united in their need for a safe, affordable place to call home. We provide quality, affordable, safe and secure homes so that they have a solid foundation on which to build their lives.
Venture Housing has a range of housing options for eligible low to moderate income earners in the Northern Territory. We offer quality housing below market rent for medium to longer term needs.
We can help:
- Sole Parents
- Unrelated adults
- Adults with disabilities (high-level physical needs).
National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) Affordable Housing
The majority of Venture Housing properties receive a subsidy under the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS). NRAS is an Australian Government initiative which aims to increase the number of new and affordable rental properties throughout Australia. It enables Venture to offer affordable rental properties at twenty-five percent (25%) or more below market rent, for eligible tenants.
NRAS Key Worker Affordable Housing
We manage 137 NRAS Key Worker affordable homes across Greater Darwin and Palmerston, on behalf of the Northern Territory Government. Under this scheme, the NT Government leases private properties for eligible tenants to sub-lease at 70% of market rates. To apply, at least one adult household member must be working within a key service industry and meet the NRAS income and eligibility requirements.
Key Worker Affordable Housing
We manage 183 Key Worker affordable homes across Greater Darwin and Palmerston on behalf of the Northern Territory Government. Under this scheme, the NT Government leases private properties for eligible tenants to sub-lease at 70% of market rates. Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) is offered under the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) and provides purpose-built properties for people with disabilities who require support to live independently. These properties include modifications to suit wheelchairs and mobility aids as well as other conditions including vision impairment, hearing impairment and intellectual disabilities.
The social housing services system aims to provide low-income people who do not have alternative suitable housing options with access to social housing assistance that supports their social and economic participation and their wellbeing. Social Housing is rental housing that is funded or partly funded by government, and that is owned or managed by the government or a community housing provider – like Venture and let to eligible persons. Rent is usually set at around 25% of gross household income plus 100% of Commonwealth Rental Assistance.
