Venture Housing Company is a not-for-profit registered Tier 1 community housing provider, established in 2011. Based in Darwin, Venture works in partnership with the corporate sector, local businesses, all levels of government and other not-for-profit agencies.
Venture owns and manages approximately 550 social and affordable homes across Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine and Tennant Creek districts in the Northern Territory and has a pipeline of 50 new social and affordable homes under development for delivery and ownership to Venture between November 2024 and July 2025.
Venture’s vision is: “Thriving Residents and Connected Communities” and its purpose is “Creating Futures through Affordable Housing”.
Venture has a strong focus on providing affordable housing options for very low, and low to moderate-income earners who may be experiencing housing rental stress in the private rental market, who may need social support, and may struggle to find a home. A significant proportion of Venture’s tenants are key workers vital to the Territory’s economy, such as those in education, retail, community services, and hospitality and trade sectors.
As an approved National Rental Affordability Scheme provider Venture Housing has NRAS incentives on some of its homes, as well as managing homes for private investors who own affordable housing in Darwin and Palmerston.
Venture is a developer and has developed its own homes in Tennant Creek, Palmerston and Katherine.
Venture is a licensed real estate agent and an experienced Body Corporate with expertise in managing whole precincts and also provides fee-for-service tenancy and asset management for private owners.

Venture recognises that social and affordable housing are essential social economic infrastructure and important market segments, essential to thriving residents and communities, and ultimately to the growth and prosperity of the Northern Territory. Venture’s priorities include initiatives aimed at achieving organisational sustainability through robust governance and a skilled based Board and delivering effective and innovative housing products and services which facilitate housing pathways for applicants and tenants. Venture recognises that values aligned partnerships and strong leadership are essential ingredients to achieving success. Importantly, Venture’s approach to delivering on its purpose and Vision embeds a commitment to excellence in services for tenants, to facilitate access to opportunities so they can achieve their aspirations and live their best lives.
Venture delivered housing outcomes to 807 individuals through its portfolio in 2022/2023. Collaborating with multiple stakeholders, including mental health services, Veterans Affairs, disability support agencies, youth services, as well as the Northern Territory Government and the private sector, Venture successfully co-designs, delivers, and supports housing projects and our tenants.
