The announcement of Fran Kilgariff as the new Chairperson of Venture Housing marks an exciting new chapter for the organisation as it continues to deliver innovative housing solutions across the NT. 
With eight years of experience as a member of its Board of Directors, Ms Kilgariff is well placed to lead Venture Housing into a future focused on sustainable housing solutions and broader community partnerships. 
Venture Housing CEO Tim Sunwoo said Ms Kilgariff’s vision and long-standing dedication to the Northern Territory would be invaluable to the organisation.   
“Ms Kilgariff brings a wealth of experience and deep commitment to the Territory, having dedicated her career to regional and economic development, local government, and community service,” he said. 
“We know that our organisation will bene t greatly from Ms Kilgariff’s direction as we help to create more affordable housing options that improve lives across the regions.” 
Born and educated in Alice Springs with further studies undertaken in Adelaide, Ms Kilgariff has qualifications in radiography, prehistoric archaeology, and teaching. Her diverse expertise is matched by decades of leadership across Territory affairs. 
During her eight-year tenure as Mayor of Alice Springs, Ms Kilgariff earned widespread recognition for championing initiatives that fostered stronger community engagement and supported regional growth. She has built on this legacy through her ongoing commitment to public service and governance. 
Ms Kilgariff currently holds several significant roles, including Chair of the Olive Pink Botanic Garden; membership on both the NT Parole Board and the NT Mental Health Tribunal; and, until recently, the Commissioner of the NT Planning Commission. 
Ms Kilgariff said she was honoured to take on the position of Chairperson at Venture Housing. 
“Housing is fundamental to building strong, resilient communities, and I look forward to working with the Board, our partners, and stakeholders in this new capacity to make a positive difference for Territorians,” she said. 
Extending gratitude to outgoing Chairperson Allan McGill, Ms Kilgariff said he had served in the role with distinction since 2016 and had led the organisation through a period of significant growth. 
“Under Mr McGill’s guidance, Venture Housing has strengthened its governance, expanded partnerships, and advanced its mission to provide affordable housing across the Northern Territory,” she said.  
“I am pleased Mr McGill will remain on our Board where his valuable knowledge and experience will continue to help shape our future.” 
Ms Kilgariff commenced as Chair of Venture Housing on 20 November 2025.
