Allan McGill AM Chair

With more than 40 years working in local government, Allan brings extensive networks, leadership and capacity-building skills to Venture Housing. Over the last 28 years, he has been a CEO or in senior management positions, most recently as the Chief Executive of the Northern Territory Department of Local Government.

From 2008, Allan successfully led, for a period of four years, Territory Alliance, a company created to construct houses and infrastructure in remote communities. Allan’s method of working relies on strong links to the community through formal consultation and informally by simply participating in community life.

Allan’s skills and experience in governance, leadership, and corporate development are particularly well-suited to managing projects, navigating intergovernmental relations, and organisational capacity-building. He has developed extensive professional networks and possesses strong links with the Indigenous community and a thorough understanding of Aboriginal culture and service delivery in remote regions. He is currently the Chairperson of the NT Heritage Council, a Member of the NT Planning Commission, and Chairperson of Tiwi Partners (Aust) Pty Ltd.
