Yesterday, Minister for Urban Housing, Ngaree Ah Kit announced a large-scale transfer of 501 Public Housing properties to two Tier One registered Community Housing Providers in the Greater Darwin Region.

Venture Housing is thrilled to be taking over the management of 250 properties in Palmerston, alongside Mission Australia Housing NT who will take on the management of 251 properties in Darwin’s Northern Suburbs. ‘This is the largest transfer of its kind in the NT’ said the Minister, who spoke of the NT Government’s goal to transfer up to 40% of its Urban Public Housing stock to Community Housing Providers as a key component of its Community Housing Growth Strategy 2022-32.

Venture CEO Karen Walsh reiterated Venture’s commitment to its vision of ‘thriving residents, connected communities’ and said "we strive to achieve sustainable tenancies, so our tenants live their best lives and achieve their aspirations". “I am confident that our new Palmerston tenants will feel welcome and supported and that these homes will be very well maintained under Venture Housing’s management.” The transfer of 250 properties to Venture is planned for July 2024.
